Artificial intelligence is poised to take over many job functions beyond bolting doors on vehicles at auto plants or filling orders at Amazon warehouses. Jobs that many people assume require a human touch are at risk. They include roles in telemarketing, bookkeeping, employee compensation, office administrative duties, delivery services, proofreading and market research analysis. Within five to 10 years, driverless cars and trucks are expected to transform road transport services, including long-haul trucking and popular door-to-door food delivery. Should humans performing more complex business functions be looking over their shoulder? Perhaps. Emerging roles of artificial intelligence across industries are diverse and sweeping in scope, including entertainment/media, financial services, health care and energy.
Deepfake technology, powered by artificial intelligence, represents both a creative frontier and an ethical quagmire. While it enables innovations in education, entertainment, and historical reconstruction, its misuse has led to identity theft, political disinformation, and financial fraud. High-profile incidents—such as manipulated videos influencing elections or non-consensual explicit content targeting women—highlight the urgent need for global policies to counter these harms. As governments and organizations strive to regulate deepfake misuse, the balance between fostering innovation and safeguarding privacy, trust, and societal stability remains critical.

On October 30, 2023, President Joe Biden issued an Executive Order to ensure that the United States leads the way in seizing the promise and managing the risks of Artificial Intelligence (AI).
The administration decided to implement 25% tariffs on 50 billion USD of Chinese goods, despite Treasury Secretary Mnuchin indicating last week that the “trade war” would be put on hold. The tariffs are meant to address “China’s discriminatory and burdensome trade practices.“ The targeted goods contain “industry significant technology” and are related to the “Made in China 2025 program” – a strategy approved by the Chinese State Council designed to transform China into a “high tech powerhouse” in industries like robotics, Artificial Intelligence, information technology, sensors and energy.
